An increase in the decentralization of power generation, it has become necessary to study the effects of distributed generation and propose a suitable modification to the protection system to increase the reliability. The paper focuses on the effect of distributed generation on the quality of power at any location concerned due to faults occurring on the power system. The waveforms of the currents and voltages at locations concerned are compared with and without distributed resources. A 30 MW power is injected at 132kV voltage level in the transmission system rather than at distribution level. The purpose of the presented work is to study the power quality and fault level before and after connection of distributed generator in the transmission system. All the modeling and analysis are done using MATLAB/SIMULINK tool. © 2017 IEEE.
