Hybrid peak-to-average power ratio reduction technique for sub-carrier index modulated OFDM
Abstract
Sub-carrier modulated (SIM) OFDM has become a popular choice for high speed optical wireless communication systems. The technique is robust and has good spectral efficiency. SIM-OFDM is being employed in visible light communication systems such as Li-Fi. Although the technique offers better performance than other similar techniques in terms of BER performance, it still has one major disadvantage. SIM-OFDM suffers from high PAPR resulting in the requirement of complex power amplifiers at the receiver end. So, a hybrid signal scrambling technique is presented in this paper that not only reduces PAPR substantially but is also computationally efficient and produces very less amount of side data. © 2017 IEEE.
