Abstract
The stability of residual soil slopes is a very complex phenomenon. It depends on several internal and external factors that vary with time. The present study proposes landslide hazard charts for the quick identification of landslide hazards for residual soil slopes derived from the weathering of carbonate lithologies of the Lesser Himalayan region. It incorporates the time-dependent variation of slope physical parameters like slope angle, slope height, depth of residual soil layer along with water content and percentage fines of the residual soil layer. The proposed charts were prepared by using the output from probabilistic numerical simulations carried out using the data from the extensive field and laboratory investigations carried out in the study area. © 2023, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology.
