In this paper, a ultra wideband reflective polarization converter based on double slit split ring resonators (DSSRR) shaped metasurface is presented. The proposed structure exhibits more than 90 % polarization conversion ratio (PCR) from 11.12 GHz to 21.20 GHz. It efficiently converts a linearly polarized (LP) (x or y polarized) wave into its orthogonal LP wave at 10 frequency points with more than 90 % PCR, besides, it convert LP wave to circularly polarized (CP) wave at two frequency points. Moreover, the surface current distribution reveals the physical mechanism of mutual electromagnetic couplings. The proposed polarizer gives a path for wideband polarization conversion and practical use in antenna radome, reflector antennas, remote sensors, radiometer, imaging sensors, polarization control and Stealth technology. © 2018 IEEE.
