Fracture strength of graphite/epoxy center-notched tensile strips

Abstract

A simple relation is used for the characteristic length to improve the accuracy while evaluating the notched tensile strength of laminates through the Whitney-Nuismer fracture models. The Whitney-Nuismer model postulates the final fracture of a notched composite laminate. The two stress fracture criteria are discussed.
