| dc.description.abstract | Abstract: In this paper, the effect of water bolus coupling layer on the hyperthermia assurance parameters i.e. specific absorption rate (SAR) and temperature distributions in the bio-model embedded with abdominal tumor using a conformal slot applicator is examined. A detailed simulation model of the applicator in close proximity with tri-layered bio-model, without and with tumor is used to study the effect of system’s bending on near E-field, SAR and temperature distributions in the tissue models in presence and in absence of water bolus. Additionally, the effects of heat transfer coefficient from skin surface to water bolus, and water bolus temperature on the temperature distributions pattern in the bio-models for various values of system’s radius of curvatures of applicator are investigated through a parametric study. The simulation analysis reveals the effectiveness of the applicator. Electromagnetic (EM) and thermal simulations are carried using CST Microwave Studio and CST Multi-physics softwares respectively. © 2022, Pleiades Publishing, Inc. | |
