This paper presents, a frequency reconfigurable antenna with compact size for triple wide-band (LTE/GSM/DCS/PCS/GPS) mobile phone applications. The antenna is designed to be operated in the PIFA as well as LOOP mode, which is achieved by controlling the PIN diode for its ON/OFF states. The PIN diode is placed in between end of the radiating arm and ground plane. The simulated results show that the-6 dB reflection coefficient bandwidths of the proposed antenna are 36.65% (682-988 MHz) and 20.60% (2286-2811 MHz) in the PIFA mode and 27.82% (1504-1990 MHz) in the loop mode. Various communication systems are effectively served by a single antenna through selection of electrical connection between the different modes. In this paper, antenna characteristics like reflection coefficient and radiation patterns are presented.1 © 2016 IEEE.
