This article presents a numerical study, using the finite difference method, of a moving boundary that governs the process of phase change. The mathematical model involves temperature-dependent thermal coefficients and a mixed convective boundary condition. Comparison of the exact solution and the obtained numerical solution reveals the accuracy of the results. The stability and consistency of the proposed solution are also analyzed. The effect of various parameters on the temperature distribution in the domain and the tracking of evolving interface are discussed. © 2020 by Begell House, Inc. www.begellhouse.com.
