Generalized Einstein-Rosen space-times with scalar waves

Abstract

Exact solution of the Einstein field equations with scalar waves corresponding to the generalzied Einstein-Rosen spacetimes, admitting on Abelian group of isometries G2, is presented. The well-known Taub solution is obtained as a special case. The asymptotic behaviour of the null geodesics near the singularity is also discussed.
