| dc.description.abstract | A metamaterial loaded coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed circular patch microstrip antenna is designed for gain enhancement which has an operating frequency from 2.3GHz to 3.6GHz. In this design, a circular patch with two rectangular slots has been cut on either side of the ground plane. The maximum gain of the microstrip antenna is 3.2 dBi but, when MS is loaded to the antenna the maximum gain becomes 7.54 dBi. MS has been designed over FR4 material whose permittivity and loss tangent are 4.4 and 0.02 respectively. The MS is made up of unit cells; the size of a unit cell is 9 mm X 9 mm X 3.2 mm. The maximum return loss of the designed structure is 23 dB. The overall sizes of the antenna and MS are 30mm X 30mm X 3.2mm. The separation between MS and Antenna is 33 mm which is approximately a quarter wavelength of resonating frequency. © 2023 IEEE. | |
