Water supply projects - A case study of varanasi and chandauli districts

Abstract

The research of William Farr and John Snow showed that safe water supply could serve to control the disease. Therefore, with an objective to provide safe drinking water to all significant advances has been made to improve water supply facility in rural sectors. More appropriate technologies have helped to accelerate the accessibility to the safe drinking water source. But rural water supply which has a complicated production, service and amenity functions, the factors leading to success are not well established. Therefore, the improved feedback information from currently operating water supply schemes, in line with new managerial aspect, is a growing need of the day. Finding of the performance evaluation of rural water supply projects implemented in Varanasi and Chandauli districts is presented in this paper.
