A review of deterioration of oil-seeds by fungi with special reference to India
Abstract
Fungal infection is a menace to oil-seed crops, particularly in tropical climates. Oils in infected seeds lose their nutritive value and often become contaminated with toxic metabolites of the invading fungi, thus becoming unfit for human consumption. Attempts are being made to prevent the infection and to detoxify the contaminated oils. In this paper an up-to-date comprehensive account of the research done on these aspects, with special reference to India, has been given. © 1987.
