| dc.description.abstract | The problem of heavy metal contamination is considered a global epidemics. For the abatement of heavy metal contamination, adsorption is widely accepted due to its easy operation, low cost, and excellent efficiency. Recently, massive research has been done on the development of efficient and practically viable adsorbents. Nanotechnology advancements have led to nanoscale materials as adsorbents for the efficient remediation of heavy metal contaminations. Consequently, several nanoadsorbents are being explored for the abatement of pollution caused by heavy metals. This chapter presents an overview of the potential of nanoadsorbents, with a focus on heavy metal adsorption. The advantages and disadvantages of nanoadsorbents associated with their preparation approach as well as physical and chemical properties are also evaluated. © 2022 Elsevier Inc.
