Road traffic noise is one of the leading sources of environmental pollution that has led to the development of Traffic Noise Models (TNM). The traffic noise levels were predicted from the fundamental variables such as traffic flow in terms of the vehicle per hour, traffic speed, no. of vehicles traffic composition in terms of percentage of heavy vehicle, light vehicle, road gradient etc. Rapid urbanization, industrialization, expansion of road network and infrastructure caused severe noise pollution problem in Varanasi city. Thus, an attempt had been made to assess the noise level in 7 different places of Varanasi city. The prediction model was used in the present study to predict equivalent noise levels of the city. The t-test was used to investigate the level of significance. The test depicts that the noise levels do not differ significantly. © IAEME Publication
