A Resource Aware Routing Algorithm for IoT-enabled WSNs

| dc.description.abstract | In recent years, the Internet of Things (IoT) is a widely adopted technology that provides a digital platform to things and makes them smarter. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a subset of IoT and the sensors send collected data from the monitoring field to a sink. Energy conservation is a critical requirement for resource constraint WSNs. In WSNs, various factors impact energy consumption, like communication protocols, packet data transmission, etc. The proposed scheme presents a resource aware routing algorithm based on an unequal clustering mechanism that avoids energy holes issues. The proposed cluster head selection and routing mechanism conserves the energy of battery-limited sensors and significantly enhances the network lifetime. The results show that the proposed scheme outperforms other state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of energy consumption and network lifetime. © 2021 IEEE. | |
